Position Details:

• Type: Family Physician Assistant.

• Setting: Inpatient behavioral health facility.

• Availability: Full-time or part-time positions are open.

• Perform thorough medical evaluations, including initial history and physicals (H&Ps) within 24 hours of patient admission, as well as follow-ups and discharge planning.

• Work in conjunction with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and support staff to develop integrated treatment plans that address both medical and mental health needs.

• Co-manage patients with complex medical conditions alongside mental health professionals.

• Provide education to patients and their families regarding medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle changes to improve overall health.

• Offer medical consultations and suggest diagnostic tests and treatments as necessary.

• Deliver emergency care within your scope of licensure until specialized assistance is available.

Requirements:

1. Licensure: Must possess an active Alaska Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant license, or the ability to obtain one before starting.

2. Education: Completion of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

3. Certification: Board certification from AANPCB, ANCC, or NCCPA.

Experience:

• Previous clinical experience in an inpatient or acute care environment is preferred; experience in behavioral health is a plus.

• New graduates with relevant clinical training and a strong interest in behavioral health are encouraged to apply.
