Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a night shift travel contract requiring at least 2 years of recent NICU experience and both Missouri and Kansas RN licensure in hand.

• Level II and Level III NICU setting with 20 beds and an average daily census of 6.9
\n
• Neonatal patient population ranging from critically premature infants (<24-28 weeks) to full-term neonates
\n
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
\n
• Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts (Friday and/or Saturday night) per 6-week schedule, plus 2 Sunday nights per 6-week schedule
\n
• On-call requirement: 2 twelve-hour call shifts per 6-week schedule
\n
• Floating may be required to the well-baby nursery, L&D for deliveries, and between other departments, units, and facilities as needed
\n
• Charting via Epic; experience required
\n
• Skills required include: high-risk delivery attendance, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, telemetry monitoring, blood glucose monitoring, phototherapy/hyperbilirubinemia management, breastfeeding support and breast milk handling, bottle/breast/gavage feedings, NG/NJ tube placement and management, neonatal sepsis and sepsis workup, blood and blood product administration, arterial line management, central line blood draw and care, IV placement and maintenance, UAC/UVC management, neonatal dosage calculations, administration of antibiotics/antivirals/anti-seizure medications/steroids/surfactants, lumbar puncture assistance, neonatal abstinence syndrome care, APGAR scoring, developmental care, phlebotomy, thermoregulation, Bubble CPAP, HFNC, chest tube management, meconium aspiration care, oxygen delivery systems, respiratory distress syndrome management, ETT/NT suctioning, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP), and arterial/venous blood gas collection

Requirements\n

\n
• Active MO RN license (or compact RN license) and KS RN license — both must be in hand at time of consideration, as floating between facilities may require licensure in both states
\n
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
\n
• Minimum 2 years of recent NICU specialty experience required; must have at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no gap in employment greater than 90 days in the past year
\n
• 2 professional references required: one from a supervisor level or above, one from a charge RN or above; all references must be from someone who has worked with the candidate within the past year
\n
• SSN required for consideration
\n
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
\n

Additional Information\n

\n
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to NICU patients ranging from micro-preemies to full-term neonates, including respiratory support, vascular access management, medication administration, and family education
\n
• Scrubs: Navy blue; scrubs are provided only for charge nurses and transition/baby catcher nurses — all other travelers should plan to provide their own navy blue scrubs
\n
• RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
\n
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
\n
• Travel partner placements are not accepted
\n
• Local candidates are not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
\n
• Completion of online compliance modules (approximately 10–15 hours) is required prior to the start of the assignment
