Description\n

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Oncology unit (8S) position requiring 5+ years of experience, active TX RN licensure, and hands-on oncology skills including mediport, PICC, and central line management.

  • Work in an inpatient Oncology unit (8S) at an acute care hospital in San Antonio, TX
  • \n
  • Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • \n
  • Rotating weekend requirement
  • \n
  • 36-hour workweek with 12-hour shifts
  • \n
  • Floating to other units is required per facility floating policy
  • \n
  • No on-call requirements
  • \n
  • EMR: Meditech (experience preferred)
  • \n
  • Procedures performed include chemotherapy administration, central line and mediport access, lab draws, blood product transfusions, and CHG baths with central line dressing changes
  • \n
  • 13-week contract
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active TX RN license required; compact license accepted only if TX is the primary state — temporary licenses are not accepted
  • \n
  • Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
  • \n
  • ONC (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification required
  • \n
  • Minimum 5 years of RN experience required
  • \n
  • Oncology nursing experience required
  • \n
  • Hands-on experience with mediports, PICCs, and central lines required
  • \n
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
  • \n
  • US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
  • \n
  • One professional reference required
  • \n

  • Chemotherapy certification is preferred
  • \n
  • Meditech EMR experience is preferred
  • \n
  • Administer chemotherapy and manage oncology patients receiving blood product transfusions and central line therapies
  • \n
  • Perform central line dressing changes and CHG baths following unit protocols
  • \n
  • All travelers are required to float per the Methodist floating policy, which will be discussed during the interview
  • \n
  • Dress code: Navy scrubs required for RNs
  • \n
  • Hair must be neat and clean with no extreme styles or colors; beards and facial hair must be neatly trimmed
  • \n
  • Visible body art should be covered whenever possible; visible piercings other than ears are prohibited
  • \n
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible, no exceptions
  • \n
  • First-time travelers are not explicitly addressed; the 5-year experience requirement applies
