Position Summary

The Medical Doctor (MD/DO) provides high-quality, patient-centered medical care in both urgent care and primary care settings. The physician evaluates, diagnoses, and treats acute and chronic medical conditions, promotes preventive health, and ensures continuity of care. The role requires strong clinical judgment, efficiency, and the ability to manage a diverse patient population of all ages.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and injuries in an urgent care setting.

  • Provide comprehensive primary care including preventive services, chronic disease management, and routine physical examinations.

  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, X-rays, EKGs, etc.).

  • Perform minor procedures (e.g., suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, joint injections).

  • Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans.

  • Provide patient education on diagnoses, medications, and preventive health.

  • Manage follow-up care and coordinate referrals to specialists as needed.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.

Urgent Care Specific Duties

  • Assess and stabilize emergent conditions prior to transfer when necessary.

  • Treat walk-in patients with acute conditions efficiently and safely.

  • Supervise and collaborate with mid-level providers (NPs/PAs) as applicable.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA, and infection control standards.

Primary Care Specific Duties

  • Manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and hyperlipidemia.

  • Conduct annual wellness visits and preventive screenings.

  • Monitor and adjust long-term treatment plans.

  • Coordinate care with specialists and ancillary services.

  • Promote population health initiatives.

Qualifications

Education & Training

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.

  • Completion of an accredited residency program (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine preferred).

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active and unrestricted state medical license.

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible.

  • Current DEA registration.

  • Current BLS and ACLS certification (PALS preferred for urgent care treating pediatrics).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.

  • Ability to manage high patient volume efficiently.

  • Excellent bedside manner and communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Commitment to quality improvement and patient satisfaction.

Work Environment

  • Combination of urgent care and outpatient primary care clinic settings.

  • May include evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts (urgent care).

  • Fast-paced environment requiring adaptability and multitasking.
