About this job
Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on, operationally focused Controller to serve as a key financial leader within a growing manufacturing organization. This role is a unique blend of Plant Controller and Corporate Controller responsibilities — ideal for someone who enjoys being deeply connected to operations while also driving high-level financial reporting, forecasting, and business strategy.
The Controller will partner closely with plant leadership, executive management, and cross-functional teams to improve profitability, strengthen reporting, and support strategic decision-making across the organization. This individual must be equally comfortable on the manufacturing floor analyzing operational drivers as they are in the boardroom presenting financial results and recommendations.
Controller Key Responsibilities
- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Lead consolidated financial reporting and analysis for the organization
- Partner with operations leadership to drive plant performance, cost control, and profitability initiatives
- Analyze manufacturing variances including labor, material usage, PPV, absorption, scrap, and inventory trends
- Maintain and improve standard costing methodologies and inventory controls
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes
- Develop meaningful KPIs, dashboards, and operational reporting tools
- Provide actionable financial insights to support pricing, quoting, capital investments, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Evaluate ROI on operational projects, automation opportunities, and process improvements
- Ensure accuracy of inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes
- Oversee internal controls, compliance, and audit coordination
- Mentor and develop accounting and finance staff
- Act as a strategic business partner to executive leadership while remaining highly engaged in day-to-day operations
For immediate consideration call Jimmy Tunney at 517-657-8054.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA and/or CMA preferred
- 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience within manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of cost accounting, standard costing, inventory management, and manufacturing operations
- Experience in both plant-level finance and corporate financial reporting strongly preferred
- Proven ability to analyze data and translate findings into operational improvements
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments
