Job Overview: AIMS is seeking skilled Pharmacy Technicians to join our team and provide high-quality pharmacy services. The successful candidates will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks in inpatient, outpatient, and oncology pharmacy settings, ensuring adherence to The Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
Responsibilities:
General Duties:
- Assess patient responses to drug therapy and plan drug therapy based on physician-established diagnoses.
- Receive and review prescriptions, including controlled drugs, on the pharmacy formulary.
- Assess patient responses to prescription or non-prescription drugs according to established agreements and protocols.
- Coordinate with prescribers to clarify issues with dosing, interactions, or instructions as needed.
- Prepare replenishment orders, receive incoming stock, check for discrepancies, and rotate medication stock and supplies.
- Enter medication orders into an electronic healthcare system and review for allergies, interactions, and duplicate orders.
- Perform standard assays on finished products, verify ingredients, labeling, and ensure a pharmaceutically elegant product is dispensed.
- Operate, maintain, and assist with pharmacy equipment, including PYXIS machines and point-of-use medication cabinets
- Enter prescriptions into the outpatient computer system, reviewing for allergies, interactions, and duplicate orders.
- Prepare package labels, inspect medication, verify correctness, and set prescriptions aside for final check by a pharmacist.
- Provide instructions to patients on proper medication use, referring questions to a pharmacist.
- Assist in medication storage area inspections and maintain security of pharmaceuticals.
- Assist with ordering and evaluating laboratory tests necessary to evaluate drug therapy effects.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience within the last five (5) years as an inpatient, outpatient, or oncology pharmacy technician.
- Graduate from a formal pharmacy technician program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or a similar program, including military training programs.
- Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT), or CHPhT.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Compliance with applicable state laws concerning the profession.
- Fully trained and qualified to provide high-quality services.
- Stability and continuity in the workforce to ensure uninterrupted performance of all tasks.
- Adherence to professional practice standards and TJC standards.
