Industrial Maintenance Technician

Southern Structural Steel is seeking a full-time experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of General Maintenance, Hydraulic Systems, Electrical and Electronic Systems, and welding. Candidate must be able to work as a team or individually. Must comply with all Company safety guidelines. Experience with any of the following equipment a plus:

Welding machines, overhead cranes, CNC Plasma Table, Controlled Automation Beam lines and Angle Line, Band Saws, Press Brakes, Plasma Guns, Stud Guns, Grinders, Mag Drills.

Core Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on schedules and as needed on fabrication equipment.
• Ensure all fabrication equipment is in working order to limit downtime in production.
• Aid other teams (Production, Quality- when needed).
• Always follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Safety Practices.
• Ensure equipment is tested/inspected on set schedules to ensure compliance with AISC.
• Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
• Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings gears, and other parts of machinery.
• Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
• Oversee any repairs that need to be outsourced, ensuring to follow up with third party to get items needed back in a timely manner to limit any downtime in production.
• Make recommendations for any equipment that needs to be replaced, sold or scrapped. Once you have approval from owners, to ensure it is replaced, sold or scrapped.
• Other duties as needed.
• Work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.

• Previous industrial maintenance work experience.
• Organized and works well alone or with a team.
• Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to keep maintenance logs and schedules for maintenance, as well as translate equipment manuals.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Work environment will include hot and cold, as it is in a warehouse setting.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
• Must be able to stand/walk throughout your shift. At times, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch.
