Job Summary:
The Springfield, Illinois-based Cytologist (Cyto Tech) position involves performing a variety of cytologic laboratory procedures with an emphasis on outpatient lab work. The role requires handling specimens such as ascitic fluid, bronchoalveolar samples, esophageal, gastric, spinal, and urine specimens. Candidates will assist with on-site procedures, prepare and stain cytological samples, and ensure quality control and specimen labeling accuracy. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:

- Shift: 5x8 Days (07:00 AM 03:30 PM)
- Hours per Week: Minimum of 40 hours
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, Days
- Required Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of cytology laboratory experience, outpatient lab experience, active ASCP-CT certification, Illinois license in hand at submission, and Cerner charting system experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with outpatient labs, multiple specimen types, and familiarity with electronic medical records such as Cerner.
- Additional Information: Candidate must be in Illinois three business days prior to fingerprinting to meet compliance requirements and must work two out of three major holidays. Requirements also include immunizations: flu vaccine (exemptions only for medical/religious reasons). Floating within the hospital or nearby facilities is required.
