Job Title: Powder Coat Technician
Job Description

The Powder Coat Technician operates and maintains equipment used in the powder coating process, including parts washers, shot blasters, spray booths, and cure ovens. This role assembles and disassembles masking plates and plugs, prepares components for coating, and ensures parts are properly handled, inspected, and staged in designated areas while following safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate shop and warehouse equipment safely, including forklifts, pneumatic tools, hoists, and small hand tools.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor parts washers, shot blasters, spray booths, and cure ovens used in the powder coating process.
  • Assemble and disassemble masking plates and plugs on components before and after the powder coat process, cleaning masking components as needed.
  • Handle and move components using a chain hoist to hang and offload parts from the conveyor system.
  • Prepare parts for quality inspection and organize coated and uncoated parts in designated racking and staging areas.
  • Accurately complete manufacturing-related documentation and production records.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Work overtime as required to meet customer delivery dates and production schedules.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and powder coat operations.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and work with mechanical components.
  • Prior machine operation experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and hoists.
  • Proficiency using hand and power tools, including pneumatic tools.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete production documentation accurately.
  • Capability to work safely in a shop and open warehouse environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed to support customer delivery requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with powder coating processes and equipment.
  • Mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 certified manufacturing environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality when preparing and handling components.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a production team.
  • Comfort working with hoists, conveyors, and material handling systems.

Work Environment

This position is based in a new facility with an open warehouse and production floor. The area is not climate controlled, and fans provide airflow throughout the workspace. You work around powder coating equipment such as parts washers, shot blasters, spray booths, cure ovens, hoists, and conveyors, as well as forklifts and various hand and power tools. The environment is active and production-focused, requiring adherence to safety procedures and appropriate work attire suitable for a manufacturing and warehouse setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ladson, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
