Hazmat Driver - CDL B - Now Hiring

Gillman Home Center is hiring a full-time Class B or A CDL Driver / Lumber Yard Associate in Shelbyville, IN. This position is ideal for dependable drivers who enjoy customer interaction, hands-on work, and operating in a fast-paced lumber and building materials environment.

Earn $23 to $26 Per Hour

High School Diploma or GED

Valid CDL B License Required

This role combines CDL driving responsibilities with lumber yard support duties. Drivers will transport materials to residential and commercial job sites, assist customers with loading and unloading, maintain equipment, and help ensure efficient daily yard operations.

Delivery & Transportation

• Safely operate Class B CDL trucks for local deliveries
• Deliver lumber and building materials to homes and job sites
• Plan efficient delivery routes to maximize time and equipment usage
• Load, unload, and secure materials for safe transportation
• Carry and place materials on job sites while minimizing property damage

Customer Service

• Provide professional and courteous customer service
• Greet customers and assist with questions and material needs
• Work with management to resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally
• Maintain a customer-first attitude during all job duties

Lumber Yard & Operations Support

• Assist customers with loading and unloading building materials
• Build customer loads and prepare delivery orders
• Operate forklifts and other yard equipment
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe lumber yard environment
• Perform cycle counts, yard maintenance, and equipment upkeep
• Support other departments as needed

Equipment & Safety

• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on trucks and equipment
• Maintain accurate DOT inspection logs and records
• Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and DOT regulations
• Identify and report workplace safety concerns immediately

Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Class B or A CDL license
• Valid DOT Medical Card
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Preferred

• Forklift experience
• Knowledge of lumber and building materials
• 1–2 years of customer service experience

• Full-time position
• Day shift schedule
• Monday through Friday
• 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Approximately 40 hours per week
