Candidate expected to work 4, 10-hour shifts and must be able to commute to Ocean County primarily and Monmouth County as well.

Bilingual preferred.

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing, the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides patient care under the direction of the CMO and the Provider, including telephoning patients, obtaining vitals, documenting in EMR and immunization administration. The CMA assists with supplies and equipment ordering and is committed to creating a positive team environment while being a good team member.

Responsibilities

  • • Prepare patients for appointments, verify demographics, insurance, and obtain required consents.
    • Room patients and document chief complaints, medical history, allergies, screenings, and social history in EMR.
    • Obtain and accurately record vital signs, pain levels, and other patient information.
    • Perform basic clinical testing including urinalysis, pregnancy tests, vision/hearing screenings, and blood draws.
    • Administer vaccines and document accurately in EMR and NJIIS registry.
    • Assist providers during exams, procedures, and patient care activities.
    • Maintain exam rooms, disinfect equipment, and follow infection control and safety protocols.
    • Monitor patient flow and help ensure efficient daily clinic operations.
    • Manage daily EMR “bucket” items and communicate closely with care teams to close out cases efficiently.
    • Schedule appointments, referrals, prior authorizations, and specialty care follow-ups.
    • Follow up with patients regarding test results, missed appointments, and pending orders.
    • Educate patients on portal access, vaccines, procedures, and follow-up care instructions.
    • Maintain inventory, stock supplies, monitor expiration dates, and manage medical equipment logs.
    • Orient and train new staff as directed by nursing leadership or designee.
    • Maintain professionalism, teamwork, CPR certification, and participate in ongoing training and education.

Education/Experience/Licensure

  • Current National Certification as Medical Assistant is required.
  • Basic Life Support for providers through the American Heart Association is required.
  • Flexible schedule to meet the needs of the organization and hours of operation is required.
  • Rotation of sites and weekend shifts may be required.
