Summary:
Our client is an established commercial plumbing and mechanical contractor specializing in tenant improvement and renovation projects. They are seeking a Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager to support ongoing HVAC and plumbing construction projects from design through completion. This position is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organized, and eager to advance into project management while maintaining a strong technical foundation in mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with project managers, senior engineers, and field teams to support HVAC and plumbing projects from design through completion
Assist with project planning, scheduling, and budget tracking
Review and assemble project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and purchase orders
Support mechanical system design with load calculations, equipment selections, and layout coordination
Coordinate with clients, architects, and consultants to address project requirements and resolve technical challenges
Conduct site visits, inspections, and field coordination to ensure installation quality and compliance with design documents
Maintain project records and provide timely updates and reports to management
Ensure adherence to applicable building codes, energy standards, and company policies
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
EIT certification preferred; PE license a plus
2–5 years of experience in mechanical project engineering, with focus on HVAC and plumbing systems
Strong understanding of codes and standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and IPC
Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple assignments and work independently or as part of a team
