Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist / Sonographer with 2+ years of experience and active RDMS certification for a 13-week travel assignment at an acute care Critical Access Hospital in North Dakota.

  • Acute care Critical Access Hospital (CAH) setting in a general ultrasound department
  • \n
  • Department currently has one echo room and one general ultrasound room, with expansion to two general ultrasound rooms and an echo room in the near future
  • \n
  • Echo exams are handled by a dedicated echo sonographer; this role focuses on non-echo general and vascular ultrasound
  • \n
  • Studies performed include OB (limited, 2nd/3rd trimester, follow-up, transvaginal, single and multiple fetus), GYN, pelvic (non-OB), abdomen (full and limited), breast (full and limited), soft tissue, thyroid, scrotum/duplex, venous doppler (extremity), carotid, retroperitoneal, thoracentesis, paracentesis, US-guided breast biopsy, FNA, and fetal BPP without NST

  • Average of 6–8 scans/studies per day with option for add-on exams
  • \n
  • Equipment includes Philips Epiq 5, Epiq Elite, and a Mindray (backup)
  • \n
  • EMR: MEDITECH; PACS: McKesson and CRTIS
  • \n
  • Primary schedule is M–F, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM with variable shift lengths of 8 or 12 hours; schedule flexibility available (e.g., 4x10s) with coordinated coverage
  • \n
  • Occasional weekend call required only when the other two travelers are simultaneously out of town; 20-minute call response time required
  • \n
  • May be asked to perform ultrasound in the OR for cases requiring it (rare); no floating to other departments
  • \n
  • No RTO will be approved after consideration; any needed time off must be requested upfront
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Minimum 2 years of sonography experience required
  • \n
  • Active BLS and RDMS certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted
  • \n
  • RDMS (OB/GYN), RDMS (AB), and RVT preferred
  • \n
  • ND state license required if applicable; must be active — pending licenses will not be accepted
  • \n
  • Proficiency with non-echo and vascular ultrasound studies required
  • \n
  • Experience with the full range of general, OB/GYN, vascular, and interventional ultrasound procedures required
  • \n
  • Comfortable with computer technology and EMR/PACS systems
  • \n
  • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • \n
  • A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration
  • \n

  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • \n
  • Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past 12 months are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
  • \n
  • Teleradiology coverage is available 24 hours; no in-house radiologist
  • \n
  • No nursing supervisor is on shift in the department, but a nursing supervisor is always available in-house
  • \n
  • Orientation is approximately 1 week, with extension available if needed
  • \n
  • Role includes room maintenance responsibilities such as cleaning equipment, stocking supplies, checking for outdates, and maintaining a safe environment
  • \n
  • Holidays that fall on weekdays follow outpatient scheduling closure; travelers may choose to work and cover ER/OB ultrasounds or take the day off
  • \n
  • Gray scrubs are required; scrubs are not provided
