Position Summary

Under the direction of the Radiation Oncology Manager, Lead Radiation Therapist, and Radiation Oncologists, the Radiation Therapist is responsible for localizing tumors, participating in treatment planning, and delivering prescribed high-dose ionizing radiation therapy to patients in accordance with physician orders and treatment protocols.

The Radiation Therapist supports the mission, vision, and values of Hoag Hospital and the Hoag Family Cancer Institute while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. This role participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives and maintains compliance with departmental procedures, safety standards, and equipment quality control requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Administer prescribed radiation therapy treatments in accordance with physician directives and departmental protocols
Perform tumor localization and assist in radiation treatment planning
Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment and specialized instrumentation
Utilize CT simulation techniques to support treatment planning and delivery
Maintain accurate patient treatment records and documentation within Radiation Oncology EMR systems (Mosaiq)
Monitor and ensure adherence to quality control procedures and preventive maintenance requirements
Participate in continuous quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists, clinical staff, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care
Demonstrate professionalism, customer service excellence, and effective communication with patients and staff
Maintain working knowledge of departmental policies, standard operating procedures, and regulatory requirements
Prioritize workload and manage multiple responsibilities while meeting departmental deadlines
Required Skills & Qualifications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, including root cause identification and practical solution development
Ability to negotiate and resolve concerns effectively

Proficiency in CT simulation techniques
Computer proficiency including:
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Excel
Radiation Oncology EMR systems (Mosaiq)
Required Certifications & Licensure
California Department of Health Services License as a Radiologic Technologist (Therapeutic)
ARRT Certification in Radiation Therapy or equivalent recognized by ARRT
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification approved by the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Radiation Oncology experience preferred
Experience with Mosaiq EMR preferred
Strong background in customer service and patient interaction preferred
