This role focuses on programming and operating CNC lathes and milling machines with Fanuc controls to produce high-precision parts, including up to 4-axis operations. The CNC Programmer will lead all programming activities in the shop, interpret blueprints, reverse engineer parts, and ensure high-quality production for components used in oil, gas, chemical valves, and related applications.
Responsibilities
- Program CNC machines using Fanuc controls to produce precision parts, including up to 4-axis milling and turning operations.
- Operate CNC lathes and milling machines to manufacture high-precision components to specification.
- Lead all CNC programming activities in the shop and serve as the primary expert for programming and CNC language.
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining processes and requirements.
- Reverse engineer existing parts to create accurate programs and machining strategies.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other inspection tools to verify part quality.
- Develop, edit, and optimize programs using Mastercam or Fusion to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with shop personnel involved in painting, finishing, quality, and manual machining to ensure smooth production flow.
- Provide guidance and technical input on in-house programming standards for new CNC 4-axis mills and CNC lathes.
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues and implement corrective actions to maintain product quality and consistency.
- Minimum 5+ years of CNC programming experience.
- Experience programming CNC machines using Fanuc controls.
- Proficiency in operating CNC lathes and milling machines, including up to 4-axis equipment.
- Experience programming using Mastercam or Fusion.
- Background working on oil, gas, and chemical valve components and related parts.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings accurately.
- Ability to reverse engineer parts for programming and machining.
- Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges.
- Strong understanding of CNC programming principles, tooling, and machining processes.
- 10+ years of CNC programming experience is preferred.
- Experience leading or acting as a primary CNC programmer in a shop environment.
- Experience working with multiple CNC 4-axis mills and CNC lathes.
- Comfort providing input on in-house programming standards and best practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in a production environment.
You will work in a clean, new, air-conditioned shop environment with a first-shift schedule and the opportunity to help shape a quickly growing operation. The role offers the chance to take ownership of the CNC programming function, influence in-house programming practices on new equipment, and work closely with a supportive on-site team. This environment values technical leadership, autonomy, and the ability to build and refine processes as the operation expands.
Work Environment
This is a first-shift position, typically 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with weekends as needed based on production demands. The facility is a clean, new, air-conditioned shop with modern CNC 4-axis mills and CNC lathes. Approximately 20 people work on-site, including teams handling painting and finishing, quality, and manual machining, creating a collaborative and supportive production environment. The setting emphasizes precision machining, use of advanced CNC technologies, and a professional shop atmosphere.

This is a Permanent position based out of Gonzales, LA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $87500.00 - $112500.00/yr.
• 401k which comes with a 4% match on a 5% deferral, eligible after 6 months of employment
