Payroll Specialist LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking for a Payroll Specialist for a client in Cincinnati Ohio. This role is responsible for overseeing payroll operations from start to finish while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. The position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Handles sensitive information with a high level of discretion and professionalism. This is a 3-5 month temp assignment with the possibility of getting hired permanently. This position is hybrid and will pay between $31 and $35/hr. Key Responsibilities

The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable:
- Administer full-cycle payroll processing for a multi-state workforce on a weekly basis
- Accurately input payroll data including variable compensation, bonuses, overtime, and benefit-related deductions
- Review and validate timesheets, attendance records, and pay data prior to payroll submission
- Perform payroll audits and reconcile data before final processing
- Review federal, state, and local tax withholdings to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
- Generate standard and customized payroll-related reports as needed
- Maintain and update employee payroll records including direct deposit details and tax elections
- Coordinate with various teams to resolve payroll discrepancies and ensure timely data submission
- Address employee questions related to pay, deductions, and payroll policies
- Provide guidance and support on payroll procedures when necessary
- Process new hire payroll setup and assist with onboarding-related entries
- Review and maintain accuracy of garnishments, levies, and child support deductions
- Establish new tax jurisdictions and work locations within the payroll system
- Prepare reports related to deductions such as retirement contributions and union dues
- Complete month-end and quarter-end payroll reconciliations and postings
- Reconcile payroll activity to the general ledger
- Maintain organized records and support documentation, including digital file management
- 3-5 years of experience processing payroll, ideally within a multi-entity or multi-location environment
- Strong understanding of payroll systems, processes, and compliance requirements
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Experience supporting general ledger reconciliation activities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
- Professional, service-oriented approach with strong communication skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Associate degree preferred; payroll certification (CPP or FPC) a plus
- Experience with payroll systems or ability to quickly learn new applications
- Self-motivated with a proactive and dependable work style
