Summary
A growing mechanical contractor is seeking a Project Engineer with a Mechanical Engineering degree who is looking to build a long-term career toward Project Management within commercial mechanical construction.
The company specializes in design-build HVAC and plumbing projects across complex commercial environments including life science, laboratory, and advanced technology facilities. This role works closely with Project Managers, field teams, and engineering leadership to support projects from preconstruction through closeout.
This is a strong opportunity for someone early in their career who wants hands-on exposure to both technical and operational sides of mechanical construction.
Key Responsibilities- Support Project Managers with day-to-day project coordination and execution
- Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
- Review MEP drawings, specifications, and mechanical scopes
- Coordinate material procurement, deliveries, and tracking logs
- Assist with budgeting, cost tracking, and schedule updates
- Support design-build coordination with engineering and field teams
- Participate in project meetings with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Help manage project closeout including punch lists and O&M documentation
- Work closely with field operations to support installation and project progress
- Assist estimating and preconstruction teams when needed
- Life science and laboratory facilities

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- 1–5 years of experience in mechanical construction or engineering preferred
- Strong interest in pursuing a Project Manager career path
- Experience or exposure to commercial HVAC systems preferred
- Plumbing knowledge is a plus
- Familiarity with Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings and specifications
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
