Tax Attorney
Our client, a leading regional law firm is looking for a Tax Attorney to join the Denver office is
seeking a 5 plus years Tax Attorney to support their Private Wealth Elder Law Practice. This position will work
closely with Private Client Group attorneys and CPAs to provide expert advice to clients and their advisors regarding gift, estate, GST, and income tax issues and fiduciary accounting matters (billable and non-billable).
Ideal candidates will have 5 plus years of tax experience in a professional services capacity as a CPA or, a Master of Taxation and interest in growing and developing a long-term career
in this area. Ideally, we are seeking candidates who possess a CPA licensure, foundational knowledge of individual income tax, fiduciary income tax, gift tax, estate tax, and generation-skipping transfer tax, foundational knowledge of fiduciary accounting,
partnership tax, and S corporation tax preferred.
Experience with tax research and writing and the creation of balance sheets, cash flow projections, and estate tax projections
Proficient at developing creative solutions to complex tax issues
Responsibilities include estate tax planning, estate administration, and compliance. You would be responsible for preparing balance sheets and cash flow and financial projections to illustrate
proposed estate or wealth transfer planning transactions for clients. You would prepare and/or reviews gift, estate, and fiduciary income tax returns and fiduciary accountings. This would also include review of appraisals of transfers of hard-to-value assets for gift and estate tax returns. Ideally qualified candidates would have a license to practice law and a CPS licensure or a Masters in Tax law. • At least 3 years of experience practicing tax law in a law firm, accounting firm, or other services environment.• Active attorney licensure required; CPA credential or advanced tax education such as a Master of Taxation is valued.
• Working knowledge of estate, gift, fiduciary income, and individual income tax rules.
• Familiarity with trust and estate administration and related fiduciary accounting concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct tax research and produce clear, analytical written work.
• Experience preparing or reviewing financial models, including balance sheets and projection-based analyses.
• Strong judgment and problem-solving skills with the ability to craft thoughtful approaches to challenging tax matters.
