Assistant Controller

A client of ours is looking for an Assistant Controller for a contract role to support the Controller in overseeing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance. This role offers strong growth potential and hands-on training, including exposure to regulatory filings such as BSA/FinCEN reporting.

Responsibilities of Assistant Controller

• Assist in managing month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure proper reconciliations
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Assist with internal controls and audit coordination
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements
• Support cash management, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions
• Learn and assist with BSA/FinCEN filings (training provided by Controller)

Skills/Qualifications of Assistant Controller

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of experience as an Assistant Controller
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
• Exposure to or interest in regulatory compliance (BSA/FinCEN experience is a plus, not required)
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong communication and ability to work cross-functionally
