We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead core accounting and financial operations for our organization in Ohio. This role oversees day-to-day financial activities while partnering with leadership to strengthen reporting, budgeting, and long-term planning. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound business judgment, and the ability to guide a high-performing finance team in a dynamic manufacturing-focused environment.
Responsibilities:
• Direct daily accounting operations across billing, collections, vendor payments, and general financial administration while keeping leadership informed of performance and issues.
• Manage payroll processing and support employee retirement and benefits administration in partnership with human resources, ensuring adherence to applicable regulations.
• Review company spending, prepare detailed expense analysis, and deliver accurate financial insights to support operational and executive decisions.
• Lead the annual budgeting process, monitor financial performance against plan, and meet with department leaders to evaluate variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare timely financial statements and management reports for senior leadership, translating results into meaningful business recommendations.
• Partner with external auditors and coordinate documentation, schedules, and responses needed for efficient audit execution.
• Establish, refine, and enforce accounting policies, internal controls, and financial procedures to maintain accuracy, compliance, and accountability.
• Oversee cash flow management, forecasting, inventory accounting, and cost analysis to support financial stability and improved production economics.
• Coach and supervise accounting staff, resolve complex accounting matters, and encourage ongoing development across the team.
• Support strategic initiatives such as business expansion, acquisitions, and evaluation of accounting systems or tools through financial analysis and due diligence.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or CMA designation preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting leadership position, ideally within manufacturing or distribution.
• Demonstrated expertise in accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, auditing, and broad accounting operations.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP, payroll compliance, tax requirements, and financial control standards.
• Proficiency with accounting and financial management systems, including experience with platforms such as NetSuite.
• Ability to analyze financial data, build forecasts or models, and translate findings into practical business recommendations.
• Effective leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills with a track record of developing team members.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, organization, and attention to detail.
