Job Title: General Production Worker
Job Description

The General Production Worker supports the manufacturing of large capital equipment assembly lines by performing hands-on tasks in the paint department and related production areas. Working on a close-knit team, this person assists with cleaning parts, basic assembly of components, and general labor activities that keep projects moving efficiently and safely. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical, fast-paced work, takes pride in quality, and wants to grow a long-term career in manufacturing within a family-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team of approximately 4–6 people to support ongoing production projects in the paint and related departments.
  • Clean and prepare parts prior to painting or further assembly, ensuring surfaces meet quality and safety standards.
  • Perform basic assembly of components using hand and power tools according to work instructions and specifications.
  • Assist with general production and labor tasks as needed to support machining, assembly, weld/fabrication, paint, and other departments.
  • Handle, move, lift, push, pull, and carry materials and components weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for grinding, sanding, and other basic fabrication or finishing tasks as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, taking pride in the appearance and orderliness of the department.
  • Visually inspect parts and assemblies for defects or quality issues and report any concerns to the appropriate team members.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to coordinate work, clarify instructions, and support efficient workflow.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and assist in different areas of the shop when needed to meet production schedules.
  • Work scheduled hours on first shift and participate in voluntary overtime on Sundays when available.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of experience as a laborer or production worker in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Ability to regularly lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift.
  • Proficiency using hand and power tools safely and effectively in a shop or production setting.
  • Basic experience or familiarity with tool and die work, vertical milling, CNC lathes, or surface grinding.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required by the job.
  • Capability to work in areas with moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, vibration, and high noise levels while following safety protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform basic inspection of parts and assemblies.
  • Reliable work ethic, willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks, and pride in producing high-quality work.
  • Effective two-way communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors in a busy shop environment.
  • Visual ability to perform close work, maintain peripheral vision, judge depth, and adjust focus as needed for production tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 1 or more years of experience operating industrial machinery is a plus.
  • 1 or more years of experience using a sander or grinder in a production or fabrication environment is preferred.
  • Comfort working with basic machining-related equipment and processes, such as milling and turning, is beneficial.
  • Ability to adapt to a no-nonsense, results-driven culture that values accountability and high performance.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and cross-train in different departments as opportunities arise.

Work Environment

This role is based in a custom-built manufacturing facility designed to accommodate large capital equipment assembly lines. The building is organized into distinct departments, including Machining, Assembly, Weld/Fabrication, Paint, and Engineering/Design, each of which takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly workspace. The machining department includes Trumpf CNC milling centers and multiple manual mills and lathes, and the broader shop uses a variety of industrial tools and equipment. The position operates on first shift, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with voluntary overtime available on Sundays. Work is performed in a shop environment that requires OSHA-compliant personal protective equipment and involves frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, vibration, and high noise levels. The role is physically demanding and requires standing, walking, climbing stairs, and using hands independently or together for most of the shift, along with occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Employees must be comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and working in a setting that emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and professionalism in attire appropriate for an industrial shop.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $19.00/hr.
