Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support a construction and contractor organization in Aiea, Hawaii through a Contract assignment. This role will focus on core accounting operations while also helping evaluate product and fabrication pricing to ensure labor, overhead, waste, and margin assumptions are accurately reflected. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in close activities, reconciliations, and cost analysis, along with advanced Excel skills and the ability to work with existing financial models that require thoughtful input and refinement. In-person support and access to local resources are critical components of the job. Therefore, the role is best suited for candidates who currently reside in Hawaii. Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly close activities by preparing accurate entries, reviewing account activity, and helping maintain timely financial reporting.
• Maintain the general ledger by analyzing transactions, resolving discrepancies, and supporting the integrity of financial records.
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate documentation and a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
• Perform detailed reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and investigate variances to ensure records are complete and reliable.
• Reconcile bank activity regularly and address outstanding items in partnership with internal stakeholders.
• Review current pricing structures for fabricated and produced items, incorporating labor, overhead, material loss, and other production-related factors.
• Analyze product costs and margins to recommend pricing adjustments that better align with business objectives and profitability targets.
• Use Excel and existing financial models to update assumptions, refine calculations, and support pricing and accounting analysis.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including work in a senior-level accounting capacity.• Hands-on experience managing month-end close processes and supporting general ledger activities.
• Strong background in preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
• Prior exposure to cost accounting, pricing analysis, or margin review is strongly preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to work through and improve existing financial models.
• Experience in construction, manufacturing, fabrication, or a related operational environment is highly valued.
• Strong analytical judgment and attention to detail, with the ability to identify inconsistencies and recommend practical solutions.
