Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner)
Orthopedics & Orthopedic Trauma
\n UPMC is seeking a Full-Time Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant/PA or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner/CRNP) to join our Orthopedics and Orthopedic Trauma team. This role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care across clinic, surgical, and inpatient settings while working in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.

In this role, you’ll make a meaningful impact supporting patients through the full continuum of orthopedic care—from evaluation and surgical intervention to recovery.

Schedule & Work-Life Balance

  • Four 10-hour days per week
  • \n
  • 3–4 days of call per month
  • \n
  • Balanced schedule across clinic, OR, and inpatient care\n
      \n
    • 1–2 days in outpatient clinic
    • \n
    • 1–2 days in the operating room
    • \n
    • Daily inpatient rounding on post-operative patients
    • \n
  • \n

What You'll Do

\n
    \n
  • Provide comprehensive orthopedic care across outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings
  • \n
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage musculoskeletal conditions and injuries
  • \n
  • Assist in the operating room and support perioperative care
  • \n
  • Conduct inpatient rounding and manage post-operative patients
  • \n
  • Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and interdisciplinary teams
  • \n
  • Educate patients on treatment plans, recovery, and injury prevention
  • \n

  • Knowledge of growth and development principles
  • \n
  • Ability to provide age-appropriate patient care across the lifespan
  • \n
  • Ability to assess patient data and deliver care per departmental policies
  • \n
  • Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and clinical judgment skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • \n
  • Physical stamina and dexterity required for direct patient care
  • \n
  • Successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, where applicable.

Licensure, Education, Certifications, and Clearances:

    \n
  • Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP)\n
      \n
    • Completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program
    • \n
    • BSN required; MSN preferred
    • \n
    • Pennsylvania RN license and CRNP certification
    • \n
    • \n

      National certification and eligibility for licensure and CRNP certification by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing

  • \n

  • Physician Assistant (PA)\n
      \n
    • Graduation from an ARC‑PA–accredited Physician Assistant program
    • \n
    • Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferred
    • \n
    • Pennsylvania PA license and NCCPA certification
    • \n
  • \n

  • Required for All APP Candidates\n
      \n
    • CPR certification required within 30 days of hire
    • \n
    • Successful completion of Pennsylvania clearances:\n
