Primary Care Physician
Location: Hibbing, MN 55746
Specialty: Internal Medicine / Family Practice (Board Certified or Board Eligible)
Shift: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Hours: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Position Summary
The Primary Care Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive outpatient and/or inpatient primary care services, including diagnosis, treatment, management, and coordination of patient care. The physician will work in a clinical setting delivering high-quality, patient-centered medical care across adult and geriatric populations.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care (Approx. 90%)
• Provide complete primary care services including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients
• Conduct patient history and physical examinations
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests (lab work, imaging, ECG, etc.)
• Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with clinical guidelines
• Manage acute, chronic, and preventive care conditions
• Provide perioperative and inpatient care when required
• Participate in emergency response, including codes and rapid response situations
• Perform clinical procedures within scope of practice, including but not limited to:
o Abscess incision and drainage
o Thoracentesis
o Paracentesis
o Lumbar puncture
o Nasogastric and gastric tube insertion
o Foley catheter placement
o Joint aspiration/injection
o Removal of lines and tubes
o ACLS procedures
Care Coordination & Clinical Responsibilities
• Coordinate patient care with specialists and interdisciplinary teams
• Ensure appropriate admission, treatment planning, and discharge planning
• Provide end-of-life care discussions and advance care planning
• Ensure timely follow-up and continuity of care
• Communicate effectively with referring providers and care teams
• Initiate appropriate referrals (e.g., social work, behavioral health, community services)
• Ensure proper documentation of patient encounters and medical records
Documentation & Administrative Duties (Approx. 10%)
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record system
• Complete encounter documentation within required timelines
• Participate in clinical meetings and care coordination activities
• Support quality improvement and compliance initiatives
Required Qualifications
• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice
• Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory (must be eligible for multi-state practice as required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Valid DEA registration
• NPI number
• Completion of accredited residency in Internal Medicine or Family Practice
• Strong clinical experience in primary care settings

• Ability to manage acute and chronic medical conditions
• Competency in minor procedures within scope of practice
• Excellent communication and patient counseling skills
• Ability to recognize and respond to medical emergencies
• Strong documentation and clinical reporting skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
• Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing)
