Orthopedic Surgery Locum Opportunity in Hobbs, NM – Dec 2026

  • End Date/Duration: 2 weeks initially, with potential for more sporadic coverage
  • Shift: 7 am – 7 am (24-hour beeper call, on-call only)
  • Hours/Week: Approximately 40+ hours/week
  • Employment Type: Locum/Temporary
  • Licenses/Certifications: Active NM medical license and NM DEA required; Board Certified or Board Eligible within 3-5 years of residency
  • Experience: Relevant orthopedic surgery experience required, with case logs within the past 24 months

What You'll Do
  • Provide orthopedic surgical coverage during assigned shifts
  • Manage light patient volume with scheduled procedures
  • Participate in 24-hour on-call coverage with no onsite requirement
  • Adhere to hospital privileging and credentialing processes
  • Coordinate with hospital staff and ensure documentation compliance
  • Enroll in the Patient Compensation Fund (PCF) as required by the state of NM
  • Maintain case logs and timely documentation submission

What You Need
  • Active New Mexico medical license and DEA license
  • Board certification or eligibility within 3-5 years of residency
  • Experience in orthopedic surgery and familiarity with required procedures
  • Ability to complete hospital privileging and credentialing process (~90 days)
  • Commitment to quality patient care and documentation
