Job Description
A Certified Surgical Technologist with CVOR experience is needed for a 500+ bed acute care hospital in Salem, VA. The facility specializes in heart and vascular care through a designated Heart Center, as well as orthopedics and spine, behavioral health, and cancer care. This full-time opportunity is within the cardiovascular operating room at a hospital serving the Salem region since 1909.
The role. The Certified Surgical Technologist in the CVOR scrubs cardiovascular surgical cases, including open heart procedures, with the hospital performing approximately five open heart cases monthly. The CST is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the physical environment and surgical equipment throughout each case, demonstrating thorough knowledge of surgical instrumentation. The role also involves performing infant testing and related tasks as directed by the Registered Nurse, and requires proficient use of clinical computer systems to support patient information processing. The CST communicates professionally with clinical staff and other departments to ensure smooth perioperative workflow.
What we're looking for.
- Successful completion of Surgical Tech Course is required or grandfathered in by the state.
- Surgical Technician license required; must be registered with the State of Virginia and license must be in hand at time of application.
- BLS within 90 days of employment.
- Minimum 1 year of cardiovascular (CV) scrub experience required.
- 1–2 years of scrub or hospital experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology required.
- Basic computer knowledge required.
- Must have customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
- Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
Schedule. Full-time, day shift rotating weekends with hours of 6:00 AM–2:30 PM or 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, including on-call responsibilities.
Compensation. $36.61 - $54.91/hr plus $15,000 sign-on bonus
