Referral Coordinator

SSTAR is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) which affords our employees eligibility to apply for one of our three Loan Repayment Programs.

The Referral & Authorization Specialist is responsible for processing patient insurance referrals, prior authorizations relating to patient care which includes knowledge of insurance companies.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Arrange outside medical appointments ordered by our providers.
• The Referral & Authorization Specialist will verify insurance and complete prior authorizations
• Liaison between Health Center and outside specialty offices.
• Answering phone calls in the Referral Department
• The Referral & Authorization Specialist will document all referral actions taken in the medical records
• Other duties as required.

Hourly Pay Rate Range: $18-22/hour

• High school diploma required.
• Previous office experience required.
• Proficient with computer systems.
• Team Player, Respectful of others.
• Data Entry and strong organizational skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Pleasant phone manner.
