Devola Volunteer Fire Company is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician to support our onsite emergency response efforts in Marietta, OH.

Position Summary

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for providing timely and compassionate pre-hospital medical care to individuals during emergencies. This role works as part of an emergency response team to assess patients, deliver appropriate interventions, and ensure safe, coordinated transport when needed.

In addition to patient care, the EMT supports readiness activities and helps maintain effective communication during incidents, contributing to a dependable service for the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to medical emergencies and assist with patient triage, assessment, and basic life support as required by protocol.

  • Provide emergency care including monitoring, symptom management, and basic interventions while ensuring patient comfort and dignity.

  • Prepare patients for transport and coordinate with receiving facilities to support continuity of care.

  • Maintain readiness by completing required equipment checks, restocking supplies, and following established safety procedures.

  • Document responses and communicate clearly with team members and dispatch to support accurate incident records.

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to perform essential job duties in emergency environments, including responding quickly and working in physically demanding conditions.

  • Current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (or equivalent) in accordance with applicable standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, focused, and professional while providing care under pressure.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of an emergency response team.

  • Willingness to follow established medical protocols, safety procedures, and organizational policies.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in pre-hospital emergency care or a related emergency services role.

  • Familiarity with community emergency response expectations and incident documentation practices.

  • Experience working in a volunteer or team-based emergency response environment.

  • A strong commitment to continuous learning and maintaining current certifications.

Compensation

Hourly rate: $16.50
