About this job
Job Description
Discover a new way to lead.
Most job sites are loud. Ours are not.
We've built something rare in the trades — a crew that operates
with intention, mutual respect, and genuine pride in the work.
A place where the best version of your craft is not the exception.
It's the standard.
If you've ever walked off a job site thinking "there has to be a
better way to do this" — you were right. We built it.
─────────────────────────────────────
WHO WE ARE
We are "Seattle's Painter," redefining what it means to work in the trades. We operate across high-end residential, cultural institutions, and commercial facility maintenance — the kinds of projects that demand more than a coat of paint. They demand a crew that shows up with skill, steadiness, and a shared sense of purpose.
We're not the biggest painting company in Seattle.
We're building the best one.
─────────────────────────────────────
THE WORK WE DO
Our clients expect precision, consistency, and a crew that understands what's at stake. We work across four client types:
LUXURY RESIDENTIAL
Precision finishes on Seattle's most discerning properties —
where every surface tells a story.
MUSEUM & CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS
Work that demands exacting standards — climate-sensitive spaces
where craft and culture intersect.
COMMERCIAL FACILITY MAINTENANCE
Long-term partnerships with facilities that require consistent, trusted teams — not one-off crews.
GENERAL CONTRACTOR - RESIDENTIAL / COMMERCIAL SPECIAL PROJECTS
Long-term partnerships with general contractors that require management beyond the bucket.
Our clients choose us because they trust us.
We choose team members the same way.
─────────────────────────────────────
A DIFFERENT KIND OF JOB SITE
The culture is the strategy.
We don't treat culture as a perk. It's how we deliver consistent,
exceptional work across every project. A crew that trusts each
other moves faster, solves problems better, and produces results
that speak for themselves.
No drama. Full stop.
Politics, gossip, undermining — these things have no survival rate
here. Not because we have a policy against them. Because the people
we hire don't operate that way.
Safety means more than a sign on the wall.
Proper PPE, staged scaffolding, hazmat protocol — non-negotiable.
But also the kind of safety where you can speak up, ask questions,
and lead your crew without watching your back.
Respect runs in every direction.
Lead painter and newest apprentice. Museum curator and facilities
manager. Everyone gets the same standard from us.
Craft is taken seriously.
We don't rush prep. We don't skip steps. We don't hand off work
we're not proud of.
─────────────────────────────────────
THE ROLE
As a Painting Lead, you run a crew of 3-8 painters across
commercial and residential job sites in King, Snohomish, and
Pierce counties.
Day to day:
- Run the crew with clarity and calm — no chaos, no ambiguity
- Execute interior and exterior work to exacting client standards
- Maintain site discipline: safety, cleanliness, accountability
- Communicate proactively with the project manager
- Mentor developing painters
- Hold your standard whether the client is watching or not
We hire at two levels:
JOB LEAD IN TRAINING — $30-$34/hr
Building toward crew leadership. 90-day structured review
with clear advancement criteria.
JOB LEAD — $35-$40/hr
Proven crew leadership from day one. Full accountability for
quality, safety, and team performance.
─────────────────────────────────────
WHO BELONGS HERE
We're not recruiting credentials. We're recruiting character.
- Leads by example, not by authority
- Puts the team's success ahead of personal recognition
- Solves problems with a quiet head rather than a loud one
- Takes ownership without being asked
- Shows the same standard on a mansion or a maintenance call
Trade experience matters — prep work, brush, roller, spray,
commercial and residential exposure. Lead or foreman experience
preferred. If you've never had the title but you're ready for
everything that comes with it, tell us that story.
We hire across a wide range of backgrounds, ages, and experience
levels. Veterans. Career changers. Painters who went independent
and want the stability of a great team. What matters is who you
are on the job site, not where you've been.

READY TO DO THE BEST WORK OF YOUR CAREER?
We're the right fit for someone who is serious about the craft,
serious about the crew, and ready to be part of something that's
raising the standard for what a painting company can be in Seattle.
HOW TO APPLY
Visit our website or apply here.
─────────────────────────────────────
Equal opportunity employer. Veterans, second-chance candidates,
and all backgrounds encouraged to apply.
Because most painters never get to work here.
Novo is Seattle's painting contractor of choice for the institutions and landmarks that define this city. We've been trusted by the Seattle Aquarium, Pike Place Market, and the Seattle Art Museum — clients who don't settle, and neither do we.
We work across Seattle's most demanding environments:
Historic landmarks & buildings
Museums & cultural institutions
Hotels & hospitality
High-end residential
Commercial facility maintenance
These aren't random job sites. They're places people visit, cherish, and remember. When you work at Novo, your craft becomes part of Seattle's story.
─────────────────────────────────────
INDUSTRY LEADERSHIP
Novo is an active member of the Painting Contractors Association — the national standard-bearer for professionalism, safety, and craft in the painting industry. Our founder is also the Chair for the Washington State Council. We don't just meet the industry standard.
We help set it.
That membership reflects how we operate every day: with documented processes, trained crews, and a commitment to doing the work correctly the first time.
─────────────────────────────────────
DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY
The trades have a reputation for high turnover, loud job sites, and crews that burn through people. We've built the opposite.
At Novo, the job site is a place you actually want to be. Quiet, organized, respectful. A crew that looks out for each other and takes the work seriously. Leadership that communicates, invests in people, and rewards those who show up and deliver.
We believe the best painting company in Seattle isn't built on the cheapest bid. It's built on the best team.
─────────────────────────────────────
COMMUNITY ROOTS
We're not a national franchise operating in Seattle.
We are Seattle. Our crews live and work in the same communities where our clients operate — from Pike Place to the waterfront to the neighborhoods in between. When Novo works on a Seattle landmark, it means something to us personally.
We invest in local talent, build long-term careers within our crews, and take seriously our role as an employer in a city that's always building something new.
─────────────────────────────────────
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AT NOVO
Work on Seattle's most recognized properties
A crew culture built on respect and craft pride
Industry-leading standards through PCA membership
Year-round stable employment
Real career growth — not just a job
A company that knows your name and values your work
