Nurse Manager – Obstetrics (Labor & Delivery, Postpartum & Special Care Nursery)

- 5x8-hour shifts \n
- 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM \n
- Every other weekend and holiday on-call coverage for the entire OB department, including Labor & Delivery \n
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager – Obstetrics to provide clinical and operational leadership for the Obstetrics department. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, staffing, quality initiatives, staff development, and patient care while supporting Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and the Special Care Nursery. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong obstetrical nursing experience and previous management experience.

- Ensure appropriate staffing levels through flexibility and adaptability. \n
- Assign personnel based on patient care needs and staff competencies. \n
- Serve as Charge Nurse when working clinically. \n
- Lead daily shift huddles and review operational plans of care. \n
- Manage department schedules and staff timecards. \n
- Oversee schedules for OB Nursing, Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Labor & Delivery Scrub Technicians, and Unit Coordinators. \n
- Collaborate with nursing leadership and educators to develop, update, and implement department policies and procedures. \n
- Evaluate staff performance and conduct annual performance reviews. \n
- Participate in interviewing and hiring new team members. \n
- Provide coaching, conflict resolution, and performance management. \n
- Promote professional development and staff engagement. \n
- Support quality improvement, patient satisfaction, and nursing practice initiatives. \n
- Coordinate ongoing staff education, including new policies, regulatory requirements, equipment, and clinical software. \n
- Maintain effective communication across all levels of the department. \n
- Participate in quality assurance activities, audits, and action plans. \n
- Coordinate and support staff orientation and competency validation. \n
- Assist with department supply and equipment management. \n
- Provide direct patient care as needed. \n
- Serve as the OB Day Shift Charge RN on designated duty days while partnering with clinical resource nurses to support weekend and holiday operations. \n
- Perform all RN duties within Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and the Special Care Nursery. \n
- Participate in hospital committees and other assigned responsibilities. \n
- Maintain patient rights, privacy, dignity, and respect. \n
- \n
- Previous nurse manager or leadership experience. \n
- Minimum of 5 years of obstetrical nursing experience with demonstrated leadership abilities. \n
- Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license. \n
- BLS certification. \n
- ACLS certification. \n
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification. \n
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and evidence-based patient care. \n
- \n
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN). \n
- Previous supervisory experience. \n
- Inpatient Obstetrics Certification. \n
- Experience with Kronos is a huge plus. \n
