Job Description
Join our Labor and Delivery team as a Licensed Practical Nurse! This is a full-time opportunity that will work day shift, including rotating weekend and holiday shifts! You may be eligible for a sign on bonus of up to $12,500 with a two-year commitment!
This role will include exciting and impactful work with our delivering patients including scrubbing into surgery, maintaining sterile technique, and assisting RNs with deliveries. This can be a quickly changing role based on patient needs, so if you are someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, make sure to look at the details below! The final candidate will be placed in the appropriate title by the recruitment team and manager. The minimum hiring rate for an LPN is $27.39.
The LPN will act as a member of the health-care team by exercising sound nursing judgment based on preparation, knowledge, experience in nursing and competency and able to provide care and IV therapy following UPMC LPN Practice Guidelines and policies, and the State Board Regulations. The Licensed Practical Nurse participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care using focused assessment in settings where nursing takes place under the direction of a Registered Nurse or other licensed UPMC provider. In this role, the LPN must take nurse assignment at the top of their license in a med/surg/tele or Emergency Department setting.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Exercise sound nursing judgment based on your preparation, knowledge, and experience.
- Participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care using focused assessment.
- Act within LPN Practice guidelines, including IVs, to create a healing environment.
- Formulate daily goals and care plans for patients, considering their individual needs.
- Communicate patient conditions to other care providers and ensure comprehensive documentation.
- Provide patient and family education for effective care transitions.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Seek guidance from a licensed professional nurse when patient care needs exceed your scope of practice or ability.
- Collaborate with the health care team to achieve desired patient outcomes.
- Build compassionate relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Maintain productive working relationships and demonstrate accountability, enthusiasm, and commitment.
- Understand cultural differences and promote healthy relationships.
Professional Development:
- Follow UPMC policies, guidelines, and the State Practice Act.

- Graduation from a State Board of Nursing approved Licensed Practical Nursing Program.
- 0-2 years of experience.
- Completion of IV therapy curriculum within 4 months of hire/transfer. Ability to take nurse assignments at the top of LPN license in med/surg/tele or Emergency Department settings.
- Knowledge and skills to provide care and interact appropriately with patients of all ages.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- LPN must maintain state licensure where they are practicing or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located.If graduated prior to 2012, the LPN will need to provide official proof of completion of IV therapy approved program within 4 months of hire/transfer.Basic Life Support OR Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
