Job Description:
The Radiation Therapist will administer ionizing radiation and radioactive substances to patients under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist in accordance with New York State Department of Health guidelines. The therapist will safely operate high-voltage radiation equipment, monitor patients during treatment, and maintain accurate treatment documentation. The role requires strong technical knowledge, patient care skills, and adherence to radiation safety standards.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Administer radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist
\t
• Accurately enter and maintain patient treatment parameters in the EMR
\t
• Interpret computerized treatment plans accurately
\t
• Observe patients daily for reactions and report adverse reactions immediately
\t
• Troubleshoot and assist with resolving technical equipment issues
\t
• Maintain professional conduct and ensure patient well-being at all times
\t
• Adhere to NYSDOH, ARRT, and ACRO radiation safety protocols
\t
• Operate radiation therapy equipment including Varian Truebeam and Varian 21ix

Requirements:

\t
• Minimum 2 years of Radiation Therapy experience required
\t
• Must hold ARRT certification
\t
• Must be licensed as a Radiation Therapist in New York State (license may be obtained during onboarding)
\t
• Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiation Therapy Technology program
\t
• Strong knowledge of radiation safety procedures and protocols
