  • Guaranteed Hours: 72 hours bi-weekly (36 hours/week). Note: On-call time does not count toward guaranteed hours.

  • Shift: 12-hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • \n
  • Weekends: Every other weekend is required. For night shift, the weekend consists of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
  • \n
  • Floating: Travelers are the first to float. You must be prepared to float to inpatient Med-Surg and the Emergency Department (ED) holding as needed.
  • \n
Facility & Unit Overview\n
    \n
  • Unit Details: 7 Central (38-bed Ortho, Neuro, Trauma, and Med-Surg unit).
  • \n
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5–6 on Night shifts.
  • \n
  • Culture: This is a teaching hospital. Travelers will frequently encounter students and new hires and are expected to contribute to a culture of support.
  • \n
  • Patient Population: Highly complex medical patients, ortho, neuro, and trauma. Common cases include traumatic falls, Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs), craniotomies, spinal fusions/laminectomies, and total joint replacements (with C-spine/TLS/hip precautions).

Clinical Skills & Equipment\n
    \n
  • Drips & Meds: Must be comfortable managing Heparin, Diltiazem, and Morphine drips.
  • \n
  • Equipment: Ceiling lifts, Hoyer lifts, Lumex, PCAs, CADD pumps, and peripheral nerve catheters.
  • \n
  • Ancillary Duties: Nurses typically administer their own breathing treatments. IV and phlebotomy skills are expected, though support services are available.
  • \n
Requirements & Experience\n
    \n
  • Experience (Strict): Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, and you must have Level 1 Trauma Center experience. Prior travel experience is highly preferred.
  • \n
  • EMR Requirement: Prior Epic experience is required.
  • \n
  • License: Active Massachusetts (MA) RN license required.
  • \n
  • Certifications: AHA BLS and AHA ACLS are strictly required.
  • \n
