About the Opportunity
A respected and growth-oriented law firm is seeking an experienced Labor & Employment Attorney to join its Michigan-based practice. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who enjoys handling sophisticated employment litigation while also serving as a trusted advisor to business clients on day-to-day labor and employment matters.
The practice offers a strong platform for attorneys who are capable of managing litigation independently, building long-term client relationships, and contributing to the continued growth of the labor and employment group. Attorneys in this practice work closely with business leaders, HR professionals, and in-house counsel across a broad range of industries on complex employment matters, workplace disputes, and strategic employment counseling.
This opportunity may also appeal to attorneys seeking a long-term platform with leadership potential, succession-planning opportunities, or the ability to continue expanding an existing client base. Candidates with some portable business are encouraged to apply.
Hybrid flexibility is strong, with attorneys generally encouraged to work in-office approximately three days per week while maintaining flexibility and autonomy.
What You’ll Do
• Independently handle employment litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Prepare legal briefs, pleadings, motions, and other litigation-related filings
• Manage motion hearings, mediations, depositions, and related proceedings
• Develop litigation strategy and advise clients on risk management and employment-related matters
• Respond to EEOC and MDCR charges and investigations
• Prepare trial materials and assist with or lead pretrial, trial, and post-trial proceedings
• Counsel employers on labor and employment compliance matters and workplace issues
• Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas on complex client matters
What You Bring
• 10+ years of labor and employment litigation and client counseling experience
• Ability to independently manage litigation and client matters with minimal oversight
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience handling employment disputes, hearings, depositions, and motion practice
• Traditional labor experience is a plus
• Some level of portable business preferred
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
• Admission to the Michigan State Bar, or ability to promptly become admitted
