Optimal Care is building a talent pipeline of compassionate CNAs and STNAs for future Hospice Aide opportunities serving Metro Detroit. Hospice Aides provide Hands-on, end-of-life care that supports patient comfort, dignity, and quality of life in homes and care facilities.

About the Role

Bring comfort, dignity, and compassionate care to patients during life's most meaningful moments. As a Hospice Aide/Homemaker, you'll provide hands-on support that helps patients maintain their quality of life while remaining in the place they call home. Through assistance with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, oral hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility, you'll help ensure each patient receives the care, comfort, and respect they deserve.

This role is ideal for a caring professional who finds purpose in building meaningful connections and serving others with empathy and compassion. You'll develop trusting relationships with patients and families while working closely with nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to support each patient's unique needs. Every visit is an opportunity to provide reassurance, preserve dignity, and make a lasting impact during an important stage of the patient's journey.

Location

  • Office Location: Bingham Farms, MI
  • Main Service Area Options:  Macomb, Oakland, Wayne, Livingston, and/or Lapeer Counties
    • This role is a high travel position and requires daily travel within the service area to provide care to patients in their homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes

Hours

  • Full Time: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a weekend on-call rotation
  • Part Time: Three weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a weekend on-call rotation
  • Per Diem: Flexible weekdays, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a weekend on-call rotation

Required Qualification

  • Completed a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training
  • Sixteen hours of classroom must be completed prior to a mandatory 16 hours of practical training
  • Must hold current certification as a nurse aide and be in good standing on the state nurse aide registry
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and valid automobile insurance coverage

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a Hospice Aide, Home Health Aide, or Certified Nursing Assistant

Essential Skills and Competencies

  • Must be able to read and write in English and follow written and verbal instructions in English effectively
  • Understands hospice philosophy, comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill in the home or facility
  • Is self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision
  • Secure with issues of death/dying
  • Provides a calm manner when in a patient's home
  • Has empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired
Pay Range
$20—$24 USD
