HVAC Drafter

Location: Farmingdale, NY

Position Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Salary: Up to $90,000

Requirement: Must have 3D experience

A well-established HVAC organization in the Farmingdale area is seeking an experienced HVAC Drafter to join its growing team. This individual will be responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings and layouts for HVAC systems while working closely with engineers, project managers, and design teams to support projects from concept through installation.

The ideal candidate will have strong AutoCAD and Revit experience, along with hands-on exposure to 3D HVAC modeling.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed HVAC system drawings including ductwork, piping layouts, and equipment plans using AutoCAD, Revit, and related design software
• Interpret architectural drawings, engineering specifications, and project requirements to produce accurate construction documents
• Create and modify 3D HVAC models for coordination and visualization purposes
• Convert existing 2D drawings into 3D formats as needed
• Assist project teams in identifying spatial conflicts and improving design accuracy through modeling
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers to ensure drawings align with project scope and design intent
• Revise drawings based on field conditions, markups, and project updates
• Support basic HVAC design functions including load calculations and equipment selections
• Ensure all drawings comply with applicable building codes, standards, and company drafting procedures
• Maintain organized project documentation and drawing files throughout the project lifecycle

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or technical certification in Drafting, Mechanical Design, or a related field
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC drafting software
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, components, and terminology
• Familiarity with construction documentation, building codes, and ASHRAE standards
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

Preferred Experience

• 3+ years of HVAC drafting or mechanical drafting experience
• Experience supporting commercial, residential, or industrial HVAC projects
• Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modeling) workflows preferred
