Established manufacturing company in NW Houston is seeking experienced Machinist II professionals for two 2nd shift openings supporting VTL and Milling operations. These are hands-on machining roles working with large industrial components in a fast-paced production environment.
We are looking for candidates with strong machining experience who can work independently, read complex blueprints, perform setups, and maintain tight tolerances with minimal supervision.

Position Overview
Depending on experience and shop needs, candidates may work primarily on:
- Vertical Turret Lathe (VTL) equipment machining large components
- Manual Horizontal/Vertical Mills
- CNC Milling equipment
This is not an entry-level machine operator role. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment such as oil & gas, power generation, heavy equipment, or automation/controls.
Responsibilities
- Machine parts and large components to specification using VTL, manual mills, and/or CNC milling equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and routing instructions
- Perform dimensional inspections and verify tolerances using precision measuring instruments
- Load, align, secure, and set tooling, fixtures, vises, chucks, and materials
- Adjust feeds, speeds, offsets, and tooling during machining operations
- Perform deburring, stamping, and quality checks on finished parts
- Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, pallet jacks, and lifting devices safely
- Maintain accurate production documentation and computer entries
- Maintain clean and safe work areas including chip removal and housekeeping
- Follow all PPE, safety, and machining guard requirements
- Work independently with little to no guidance, including machine setup
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 2+ years of machining experience operating manual and/or CNC milling equipment or VTL machinery
- Strong blueprint reading and layout experience
- Advanced knowledge of precision measuring tools including:
- Micrometers
- Dial & Vernier calipers
- Indicators
- Depth gauges
- ID/OD measuring tools
- Experience working with tight tolerances and surface finish requirements
- Comfortable working around large industrial components and heavy materials
- Ability to lift 40+ pounds and perform prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Must be able to work 2nd Shift
- Experience in oil & gas, heavy equipment, power generation, or industrial manufacturing
- Forklift, crane, and pallet jack certification
- Vo-Tech or machining trade school certification
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Self-sufficient machinists who require minimal supervision
- Candidates with strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Team players who take pride in quality workmanship and maintaining production standards
