JOB SUMMARY
The PLC Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving industrial manufacturing equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role requires strong expertise in electrical systems, controls, and PLC programming, with a focus on proactive maintenance programs that maximize machine uptime and minimize downtime. The technician will also mentor junior team members and collaborate across departments to support production, safety, and continuous improvement goals.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform repairs, corrective actions, projects, and preventive maintenance in a safe and timely manner.
• Develop and recommend improvements to proactive maintenance programs to increase machine uptime.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot power distribution systems, branch circuits, lighting systems, transformers, and wiring methods.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, and control components (photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachometers, and encoders).
• Troubleshoot PLC programs, ladder logic, CPU backplanes, I/O boards, counters, modules, devices, and communication modules (Ethernet).
• Mentor junior technicians by providing guidance, motivation, and direction.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships across all organizational levels.
• Interpret electrical schematics and control logic; proficient in using volt and ohm meters.
• Complete all assigned safety training and comply with company safety policies and procedures.
• Work flexible schedules, including overtime, holidays, and extended shifts (10 hours/day, 4 days/week, with frequent Friday overtime).
• Perform additional duties as assigned by team leads or managers.
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of six years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment as a maintenance technician.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues using systematic, root-cause problem-solving methods.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting production and safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
• Two-year Technical Mechatronics degree.
• Experience mentoring and training junior technicians.
• Familiarity with 5S/housekeeping practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
