The Opportunity

Duston Dougherty Electric (DDE) is seeking an experienced Senior Lead Electrician & Assistant Field Foreman to lead trade installations, guide junior wiremen, and support field foremen across El Sobrante and the Greater San Francisco Bay Area.

In this pivotal field leadership position, you will take ownership of daily electrical installations—managing conduit runs, main panel tie-ins, single/three-phase power distribution, and commercial lighting systems. Working with an established, family-owned electrical contractor dedicated to craftsmanship and reliability, you will assist the foreman with crew scheduling, task delegation, and jobsite safety enforcement while maintaining high quality standards. If you bring 4 or more years of hands-on electrical experience, strong blueprint reading skills, and an aspiration to advance into full field management, Duston Dougherty Electric provides top-tier Bay Area hourly pay, prevailing wage project access, company vehicle options, and structured career advancement tracks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Installation Leadership: Direct daily hands-on electrical tasks on-site—including rigid/EMT conduit bending, heavy wire pulls, transformer terminations, service panel installations, and device trim-outs.
  • Assistant Foreman Operations: Partner directly with the Field Foreman to plan daily task sequences, manage material staging, coordinate trade schedules, and delegate daily work to crew members.
  • Blueprint & Code Execution: Read, interpret, and execute directly from electrical plan sets, single-line diagrams, Title 24 specs, and architectural drawings; ensure all work complies with California Electrical Code (CEC) standards.
  • Apprentice Mentorship & Guidance: Provide direct technical guidance, safety coaching, and trade mentorship to junior electricians and apprentices on active jobsites.
  • Safety & OSHA Compliance: Uphold strict jobsite safety standards, participate in weekly safety meetings (toolbox talks), enforce fall protection/lift safety protocols, and ensure full PPE deployment across active work zones.
  • Stakeholder & Progress Communication: Maintain daily communication with foremen, project managers, client representatives, and trade partners regarding project milestones, material needs, and field challenges.

What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)

Required

  • Electrical Trade Tenure: Minimum 4 years of hands-on professional electrical experience across commercial, residential, or industrial environments.
  • Lead & Assistant Leadership Experience: Practical experience assisting a foreman, leading wire crews, or managing small electrical project scopes.
  • Systems & Technical Literacy: Functional working knowledge of single-phase and three-phase power distribution, motor controls, grounding/bonding, conduit layouts, and circuit troubleshooting.
  • Blueprint & Code Competency: Ability to read, navigate, and build directly from electrical blueprints, single-line diagrams, and National/California Electrical Code guidelines.
  • Physical Endurance & Stamina: Capability to perform active trade labor, operate power tools, climb ladders/scaffolding, work on aerial lifts, and lift up to 50+ lbs in dynamic jobsite environments.
  • Mobility Credentials: Valid Driver License with an insurable driving record to operate company-provided service vehicles.

Preferred

  • State Licensure: Active California General Electrician Certification or Journeyman Electrical License preferred (but not strictly required).
  • Safety Credentials: Active OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety Card, Fall Protection, or Aerial Lift Operator certification.
  • Tech Literacy: Familiarity with digital blueprint tools (such as Bluebeam Revu) and smartphone/tablet work management software.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive Hourly Earnings: $40.00 to $50.00 per hour based on electrical experience and leadership background, paid on a dependable weekly pay cycle.
  • Public Works Earning Upside: Direct access to high-yield Prevailing Wage projects offering significantly elevated hourly pay rates plus overtime potential.
  • Fleet & Travel Provisions: Company vehicle, car allowance, or mileage reimbursement program provided for jobsite travel.
  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive Medical Insurance coverage plan options alongside full personal safety equipment (PPE) provided directly by the employer.
  • Wealth & Retirement: Corporate 401(k) Retirement Savings Program.
  • Mobile Tech Package: Dedicated corporate technology package (smartphone or tablet) for digital plan viewing and progress tracking.
  • Continuous Development: Company-sponsored paid training programs, safety recertifications (OSHA, Fall Protection, Lifts), manufacturer training, and mentor development tracks.
