CNC Manual Machinist
Location: Cincinnati, OH moving to Mason, OH early 2027 Employment Type: Long Term Contractor – 40 hours/weekly Shift: 1st] Pay Range: $35/hour
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced CNC Manual Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate combines traditional manual machining skills with modern CNC capability, including conversational CNC programming on Hurco machines. This role is critical to producing high-quality precision parts and supporting ongoing production needs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and adjust manual and CNC machining equipment to produce precision parts to specification
  • Program and operate Hurco CNC machines using conversational CNC programming
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, speeds, and feeds for each job
  • Use a variety of power tools and precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, indicators) to verify part accuracy
  • Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks
  • Make adjustments to programs, offsets, and tooling to maintain tight tolerances
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S and safety standards
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and report mechanical issues promptly
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to meet delivery and quality goals
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on machining experience, including both manual and CNC operations
  • Working knowledge of conversational CNC programming (Hurco experience strongly preferred)
  • Proficient with manual mills, lathes, and a range of power tools
  • Strong blueprint reading skills and understanding of GD&T
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately
  • Solid math skills, including shop trigonometry and geometry
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple jobs in a production environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical certificate or associate's degree in machining, manufacturing technology, or related field
  • Experience with multiple CNC controls (Hurco, Mazak, Fanuc, Haas)
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software
  • Experience in [industry: aerospace, automotive, medical, job shop, etc.]
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, coolant, and metal chips
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
