Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and professional Medical Debt Collector to join our team. The Medical Debt Collector is responsible for contacting patients and insurance companies regarding outstanding medical balances, arranging payment plans, and maintaining accurate account records while ensuring compliance with healthcare and collection regulations.

Responsibilities:

Contact patients by phone, email, or mail regarding overdue medical accounts
Review patient billing information and explain charges and payment options
Set up payment arrangements and process payments
Communicate with insurance companies to verify claims and resolve billing issues
Maintain accurate records of collection activities and account updates
Follow federal and state debt collection laws and HIPAA regulations
Resolve patient concerns professionally and courteously
Monitor delinquent accounts and recommend further action when necessary

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience in medical billing, collections, or healthcare administration preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance claims, and billing procedures
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
Basic computer and data entry skills
Familiarity with HIPAA and debt collection regulations is a plus
