Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct production staff by coordinating daily activities, communicating expectations, and resolving operational issues
- Ensure production efficiency, product quality, food safety, and employee safety within the department
- Train, coach, evaluate, and discipline employees in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Prepare for production by verifying equipment readiness, setting operational parameters, and ensuring proper production flow
- Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards and take corrective action when needed
- Evaluate operational performance including line speeds, staffing levels, and workflow efficiency
- Collaborate with USDA personnel to address and resolve regulatory concerns
- Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards, including pre-operational inspections
- Ensure adherence to HACCP programs, SSOPs, and all regulatory and company policies
- Coordinate employee training programs related to production, food safety, OSHA, and company procedures
- Work cross-functionally to align production goals and operational needs
- Partner with Human Resources on hiring, attendance, performance management, and disciplinary actions
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical or operational issues and escalate when necessary
- Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean and process improvements
- Perform additional duties as required
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in production, manufacturing, or food processing required (poultry or protein industry preferred)
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred; strong leadership potential may be considered
- Knowledge of food manufacturing processes, USDA regulations, HACCP, and SSOPs required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and production systems (CAT2 or similar preferred)
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance
Required Experience
- Production, manufacturing, or food processing: 1 year (required)
- USDA regulations, HACCP, SSOPs: 1 year (required)
- Microsoft Excel and production systems: 1 year (required)
- Supervising: 1 year (required)
