Job Title: Air Quality & Noise Department Manager – Environmental Services
Location: Kansas City, MO

The Air Quality & Noise Department Manager is responsible for the leadership and direction of an established Air Quality & Noise practice within a growing environmental services team in Kansas City. This role will lead a team supporting private, public, and federal clients and will play a key role in expanding the practice locally and nationally.
This position includes responsibility for strategic growth, client management, project delivery, and overall department performance, with a strong focus on profitability, quality, and team development.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and grow the Air Quality & Noise practice, including team development and performance management
  • Develop and execute long-term strategic plans for department growth and market expansion
  • Drive business development efforts, including identifying opportunities, building client relationships, and supporting proposals
  • Serve as Client Account Manager for key clients and ensure high-quality project delivery and client satisfaction
  • Oversee department financial performance, including revenue, profitability, and utilization targets
  • Support marketing, pricing strategy, and customer retention initiatives
  • Collaborate with leadership and other service areas to expand offerings and diversify clients
  • Lead pursuit strategies, capture planning, and proposal development efforts
  • Maintain quality standards and ensure adherence to QA/QC and safety programs
  • Build and mentor high-performing teams, including hiring, coaching, and retention of staff
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and high-performance culture
  • Make strategic decisions while building consensus across stakeholders
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, meteorology, atmospheric science, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in air quality permitting, noise compliance, or related environmental work (10+ years preferred)
  • Prior leadership or management experience preferred
  • Strong business development and client-facing experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex projects
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to lead change and drive growth
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
