Job Summary

This role oversees the full service lifecycle—installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and technical support—while managing a team of Field Service Engineers/Technicians. You’ll be the primary technical escalation point and a key interface between vessel teams, shipyards, and internal engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of DP Field Service Engineers and Technicians to ensure safe, high-quality service execution.

  • Plan and coordinate onboard commissioning, repairs, upgrades, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance activities.

  • Serve as the technical escalation point for complex DP/vessel control issues encountered in the field.

  • Coordinate with vessel operators, shipyards, and offshore stakeholders to schedule and deliver service work with minimal downtime.

  • Support acceptance and validation activities including FAT/CAT/SAT as required.

  • Ensure compliance with OEM work instructions, class/flag expectations, and HSE requirements.

  • Review and approve service reports, ensuring accurate documentation, traceability, and clear closeout.

  • Partner with internal teams to support spare parts planning, warranty workflows, and service logistics.

  • Assist with onboarding and training for junior service staff; drive consistent processes and standards.

  • Provide structured field feedback to engineering/product teams to support continuous improvement.

  • Support budgeting, cost control, and resource planning for field service operations.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Dynamic Positioning systems, marine vessel operations, and marine control/propulsion fundamentals.

  • Hands-on experience supporting DP-related equipment such as sensors, position reference systems, and vessel control interfaces.

  • Demonstrated experience leading field service personnel (supervisor/lead/manager level).

  • Proven troubleshooting capability across electrical, electro-hydraulic, PLC-based, and/or propulsion-adjacent systems.

  • Willingness to travel onboard/offshore as needed (typically <10%).

Nice-to-Have

  • Technical degree or equivalent experience in Marine, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or similar).

  • Experience in offshore marine environments (e.g., DP vessels, drilling, subsea, offshore construction).

  • Exposure to dock trials, sea trials, vessel integration, and commissioning projects.

  • Prior service in U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, or commercial marine engineering environments.
