Job Description

Location: The Portland Clinic – Portland Metro Area, Oregon

Type: Full-Time | Outpatient Only | Physician-Led | Independent Multi-Specialty Group

About The Portland Clinic:

Founded in 1921, The Portland Clinic is Oregon’s oldest private multi-specialty medical group. With six locations across the Portland metro area, we serve over 90,000 patients annually with a mission-driven, community-based approach to care. Our commitment is simple: Be trustworthy, kind and considerate. Treat everyone like family and build relationships that last.

We remain proudly physician-owned and governed, providing a practice environment that fosters autonomy, collegiality, and purpose-driven care. TPC is not part of a large corporate system, our legacy is 100% Portland, and our focus is 100% on our patients.

Living in Portland – Highlights for Physicians and Families:

  • Portland offers an ideal lifestyle with easy access to hiking, rivers, beaches, and parks, alongside vibrant arts, dining, and music scenes.
  • Enjoy excellent schools, safe neighborhoods, no sales tax, and a lower cost of living than other West Coast cities.
  • Practice in an active, outdoorsy city where hiking, skiing, cycling, and team sports lead to a constant flow of musculoskeletal injuries and athletic care opportunities.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, board-certified or board-eligible Orthopedic Surgeon to join our high-demand orthopedic team. This role encompasses the full breadth of general orthopedic care — both surgical and non-surgical — for a highly active patient population. With access to digital imaging, MRI, in-house physical therapy, and affiliated ambulatory surgery centers, you will manage conditions ranging from fractures and degenerative joint disease to sports injuries and soft tissue pathology. A predictable weekday schedule, no ER call, and strong internal referrals make this a rare opportunity to thrive professionally while enjoying Portland’s outstanding outdoor lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide surgical and non-surgical management of general orthopedic conditions across a high-volume, musculoskeletal-focused population

• Perform outpatient orthopedic procedures at affiliated ASCs and collaborate closely with in-house PT and imaging teams

• Lead and contribute to evidence-based MSK care, sports medicine, and injury prevention initiatives

• Utilize EPIC/MyChart EHR to optimize care coordination, documentation, and pre/post-operative workflows

• Serve as a referral anchor for primary care providers managing fractures, joint pain, sports injuries, and orthopedic conditions across the full spectrum of care

• Maintain productivity expectations aligned with MGMA benchmarks

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board certification or eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Unrestricted Oregon medical license (or ability to obtain)
  • Commitment to equity, kindness, teamwork, and excellent clinical care

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary $550,000
  • Two-year guaranteed base salary
  • Productivity incentives and value-based bonuses
  • Predictable weekday schedule (no inpatient or call unless noted)
  • Flexible scheduling available for experienced candidates
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, 401(k) with match, CME allowance per provider role
  • Annual CME allowance of $5,000 and up to 1 week paid leave
  • PTO Accrued Annually + Observed holidays (paid)
  • Supported by a dedicated MA and clinical team
  • Partnership opportunity after two years
  • Support for work-life balance and professional development
