Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive psychiatric care to youth residing in a residential congregate care setting. This role involves conducting psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, developing individualized treatment plans, and managing psychotropic medications for children and adolescents.
This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced psychiatrists and newly trained physicians seeking a collaborative, trauma-informed environment focused on improving outcomes for youth.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments for youth ages 7-17
Diagnose psychiatric and behavioral health conditions
Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team
Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings with: Clinical staff,Social workers, Nurses, Educators, Residential care staff
Provide crisis intervention support and psychiatric consultations as needed
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards
Support trauma-informed and culturally competent care practices
Collaborate with families and caregivers to support treatment goals and continuity of care
Qualifications
Required:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency Program
Board Certified in Psychiatry by the ABPN
Active and unrestricted New York medical license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
Current DEA registration
Comfortable treating children and adolescents ages 7-17
Preferred:
Certification or training in: TF-CBT / DBT / Other trauma-informed or evidence-based treatment models
Experience with: Child & adolescent psychiatry, Trauma-informed care, Psychopharmacology, Foster care or juvenile justice populations, Residential behavioral health settings
Schedule: Mon - Fri (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
No formal on-call requirements
Occasional phone consultation support may be requested
Ages: 7-17 years old
Average daily caseload: 5-6 patients plus team meetings
