Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ED RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level II trauma and comprehensive stroke center in Asheville, NC, requiring at least 2 years of experience including 1 year in an ED setting.

Details

• Large 101-bed Emergency Care Center within a high-volume hospital environment
• Patient ratio is typically 4:1 for medical patients, with ratios up to 7:1 for ED behavioral holds
• Support staff includes patient care techs (cardiac monitoring and internal processing), triage staff, and unit clerks on both days and nights
• Equipment includes Baxter pumps and GE monitors
• Documentation system is Cerner
• Shift hours are 10:45 AM – 11:15 PM
• Every other weekend is required; scheduling must meet departmental needs and block scheduling is not available
• No floating outside the ED, but flexibility to float to all sections within the ED is required

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Required certifications (must be obtained prior to start): BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, and NIHSS
• ENPC required within 90 days of hire
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an ED setting
• Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (100,000+ visits/year) preferred
• Previous HCA experience preferred
• Strong teamwork skills with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
• Ability to work flexibly across all areas of the ED
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

• Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date; AHA or ARC certifications are accepted
