Job Description
We are seeking a versatile and proactive Medical / Surgical Assistant to join our clinical team. This role is a unique blend of clinical expertise and administrative coordination, requiring a professional who is as comfortable assisting in the operating room as they are navigating insurance authorizations.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented multitasker who prioritizes patient care and maintains a sterile, efficient environment.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Surgical Support
- Patient Intake: Greet patients warmly, prepare exam rooms, and accurately record vital signs.
- Surgical Assistance: Act as a primary assistant during in-office surgical procedures, ensuring the provider has necessary instrumentation and support.
- Procedural Care: Perform venipuncture (blood draws), remove sutures/staples, and administer dressing changes.
- Advanced Tasks: Perform specific clinical procedures independently following successful completion of in-house training and competency validation.
- Sterilization: Responsible for the cleaning, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments according to OSHA and clinical protocols.
Administrative & Care Coordination
- Insurance Management: Liaise with insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations and verify coverage for procedures.
- Patient Navigation: Answer multi-line phones, triage patient inquiries, and manage complex appointment scheduling.
- Inventory Control: Monitor clinical stock levels and take the lead on ordering medical and surgical supplies to ensure zero downtime.
