The Physical Therapist 2 (Per diem) reports to the Rehab Services Supervisor 2 for Acute Care Physical Therapy. This position works as a journey-level therapist, and is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating physical therapy treatments as assigned by the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Typically, PT 2s have experienced a variety of clinical settings. They have successfully demonstrated experience related to the ability to function with less direction. They plan, evaluate and implement physical therapy programs for patients with complex problems. They have demonstrated independent judgment related to documentation, billing and patient-related treatment issues. Incumbents are expected to act as resource persons and provide clinical direction to entry level Physical Therapists. They assist in orientation of staff and are expected to participate in training.

- California Licensed Physical Therapist
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
- Minimum education satisfied through attainment of the required licensure/certification
- Two or more years of experience as a licensed physical therapist and has experience working in a variety of clinical settings
- Must be able to perform all responsibilities of a licensed Physical Therapist as required and assigned by PM&R (Physical Medicine and Rehab) Leadership
- Skills to provide physical therapy assessments and interventions in Acute Care, ICUs and Inpatient Rehabilitation
- Thorough working knowledge of, and skill to apply, practices, principles and techniques of patient care related to area of expertise
- Ability to communicate ideas and relate well with staff and patients in order to work as a team member
- Skills in written communication that allow for clear, concise, and well-organized conveyance of thought
- Willingness to assist other staff members with their caseloads
- Ability to establish and maintain good rapport with patients and their families
- Ability to train family in follow-through for home therapy programs; home visiting as necessary
- Ability to communicate clearly on a professional basis with hospital staff in a clear, concise, professional manner
- Knowledge of requirements in processing for third-party payors
- Ability to write progress notes, discharge plans, and other written reports as requested
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate scheduling of patients in assigned areas of responsibility
- Ability to be flexible and cooperative
- Ability to verbally communicate pertinent information and knowledge of the profession for training and educating other hospital service personnel
- Skill in organizing written material
- Knowledge of appropriate information required for patient and supply record keeping
- Basic computer and technology skills
- Skill and ability to work in stressful situations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an acute care physical therapy setting
- Experienced in documentation via Electronic Medical Record
Key Responsibilities
- 90% - As a journey level therapist, able to provide Physical Therapy services to complex, complicated patients of all ages in a variety of clinical settings (including Acute Care, ICUs and Inpatient Rehabilitation) as assigned through the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Work Environment
- UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
