Skid Steer Operator / Laborer

Position Summary

Nidy Sports Construction is seeking a Skid Steer Operator/Laborer who will work closely with the foreman on the job site, assisting with all tasks necessary to complete projects. This position is responsible for operating skid steer equipment and performing a variety of construction labor duties to support site preparation, grading, and project completion.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Operate a skid steer loader safely and efficiently to perform grading, material handling, site preparation, and other construction-related tasks.

• Conduct routine equipment inspections prior to operation to identify maintenance needs or repairs.

• Monitor gauges and equipment performance indicators to ensure safe operation.

• Report necessary repairs and maintenance of equipment.

• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

• Maintain accurate records of time worked and materials used.

• Assist crews with construction activities as needed.

• Perform general labor duties, including shoveling, raking gravel and dirt, moving materials, site cleanup, and other manual tasks.

• Load, unload, and transport materials around the job site using the skid steer.

• Support project completion by performing other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Thorough understanding of safe skid steer operation and job site safety practices.

• Knowledge of basic equipment maintenance and minor repairs.

• Ability to read and understand grade stakes.

• Familiarity with laser-guided grading equipment is helpful.

• Ability to perform rough and finish grading with a skid steer.

• Experience operating hand tools and power equipment commonly used in construction.

• Ability to complete tasks with quality workmanship in a neat and timely manner.

• Strong work ethic and willingness to perform both equipment operation and manual labor duties.

Education and Experience

• Prior skid steer operating experience required.

• Construction or sitework experience preferred.

• Valid driver's license required.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to safely operate a skid steer loader.

• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, and stand for extended periods.

• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.

• Must be able to perform physically demanding labor and lift up to 40 pounds regularly.

• Must be able to enter and exit equipment repeatedly throughout the workday.

Applicants must have a valid non-restrictive Florida Driver’s License, be able to pass drug and alcohol screening, undergo a pre-employment background check, and be able to work flexible hours with overtime. This is a year-round position. Rate of pay is commensurate on experience.
